Operating Principles

We seek to facilitate the transition to a truly democratic and socialist society, one in which the means and resources of production are both democratically and socially controlled.

We reject the capitalist, imperialist, white supremacist patriarchal order that is the hegemonic paradigm against which we struggle.

We envision a just social order based on popular control of resources, production, and economic planning, equitable distribution, and non-oppressive relationships. At a fundamental level, socialist feminist praxis informs our organizing and organizational culture.

We are socialists because we are developing a concrete strategy for achieving that vision.  In the present, we are building a socialist majority within the broad democratic Left. This strategy will be oriented around building strategic and sustainable relationships with labor unions, tenant and neighborhood associations, and other community organizations. We intend to build a popular movement capable of actualizing democratic socialism in the United States. Our strategy acknowledges the racial capitalist nature of U.S. society. This means that we cannot succeed in building a socialist majority without tackling white supremacy, imperialism, and other forms of oppression head on, in society, in our coalitions, and within DSA.
